ELIXIR XML – The Next Step in the Transformation of Interbank Payments
Poland’s and Europe’s payment infrastructure is undergoing a significant transformation, with the gradual adoption of the ISO 20022 standard based on the XML format being one of its key elements. The new standard enables the transmission of greater volumes of structured data, enhances opportunities for automation and information analysis, and facilitates the development of modern payment services.
In the area of interbank settlements, the ediELIX system supports the processing of low-value payments. As communication standards evolve, BSB is adapting the ediELIX solution to support messages compliant with ISO 20022.
Migration to the new standard is not merely a change in file format. XML enables the transmission of more data, its better structuring, and its use in process automation, analytics, and reporting. At the same time, ISO 20022 is a global standard supported by the financial sector, facilitating the development and integration of payment systems.
Key changes to the ediELIX system
- adaptation of source and integration systems to XML-based communication,
- mapping of existing message formats to the ISO 20022 standard,
- updating validation rules,
- integration testing with banks and KIR,
- analysis of the impact of the changes on business processes and reporting.
For the financial sector, this means greater opportunities to digitize processes, improve system interoperability, and facilitate integration with solutions based on a global communication standard.
ISO 20022 is the foundation of modern financial communication – and the migration of ELIXIR to XML is another important step towards more integrated, automated, and efficient interbank payments.
